How much creativity can a person have in one body? Ask Aleli Roselo, a senior Communication Research student from UP and I'm sure you'll get your answer, and if the stars are on your side, she might even give you some personal demonstration.
I was lucky to have known Aleli for quite some time now, through the PRSP eliminations in campus. Mykee, my Vice President in PRAdS formally introduced me to her (myk knew her earlier because they shared a common class on Corporate Communication) around July and if I remember it right, she still sported a long hair back then. Nothing special at first, though I find her carefree attitude a lot like Lorenne's, a Comm100 buddy with the energy of 10, 000 squirming kittens (for the lack of a better comparison haha).
Aleli rekindled in me a passion that the continuous barrage of acad works, deadlines and family problems sripped me of, the passion to enjoy the simplest things in life. Cheesy would be an understatement but I rediscovered my interest for cats, for everyday beauty and the graphic arts through Aleli. The last time I did find time to appreciate those things was second sem of 2006, after that I coursed through my academic life as a zombie.
There is never a bland moment with Aleli, just like there is never a dull moment with Ivy Cay. Aleli could easily be the goddess of creativity in CMC, I have never seen anyone with so much idea, concept and knowledge when it comes to the graphic arts. Maybe it can be attributed to her brother Aaron, who gracefully accepted our invitation to talk for us in PRAdS I-Con event, but then again you can have Amorsolo as your twin brother but end up an art bum.
More than her skills, it is her passion for what she does that caugth my attention. I have been self-studying graphics techniques as applied to visual communication myself by kidnapping books in the library, but with Aleli, it all came naturally. She knows which fonts to use, which colors suits the message best, etcetera etcetera. Things I'm just beginning to learn, Aleli already mastered. And the funny thing is, all this knowledge never got her up her head. She remained down to earth despite all these wonderful skills she possess.
I am a fan of her photodiary. I find her pictures very very interesting, how she captures everyday life in pixels that make you go 'whoa! Why haven't I thought of that!'. Nothing can come between Aleli and Art, be it rain, sun or whatnots. Aleli is a digital diva and her weapon is her camera...
...and Photoshop and of course Adobe Illustrator. I still fathom how she managed to create our logo for the PRSP Grand Prix using Illustrator. She inspired me to learn Photoshop (which came easily after I manage to digest the concept of layers) and pretty soon I think I'll be trying Illustrator, as soon as I have my own laptop.
So there, I can't think of anything more to say except that Aleli do look a little like Jolina minus all the negative connotations that come with the mention of the original Jologs' name. Find her in CMC, I'm sure you'll be in for some surprise. =)
