The University of the Philippines' Centennial year could not have been better than with another top prize under its name.
The ten UP Diliman delegates, all Communication Research majors, bested six other universities in the 2008 Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) National Student Grand Prix held last September 28 at the Landbank main building in Manila.
Team Sportacular, the team name of the said representatives competed with the other finalists composed of two teams from sister campus UP Manila and one each for De La Salle Dasmariñas, De La Salle Lipa, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and Lyceum of the Philippines University.
The team's winning campaign was titled "Liga ng Lakas", a PR plan aimed at rekindling the youth's interest in sports which is the case study the PRSP National Student Grand Prix gave to the participants. The team used the framework of the baranggay Liga and elevated it to the national platform to address the said problem.
The team members, Kessica Tanglao, Aleli Roselo, Cherine Capadocia, Regine Anne Ramos, Anne Czarina Alba, Miccah Doctolero, Frenna Mae Cruz, Tristan Matthew Delgado, Julius Soriano and Micha Monna Reyes were all awarded medals and a check worth P20,000.00 during the award ceremony held immediately after the competition.
The team attended the event with their adviser Dr. Fernando Paragas of the Communication Research Department.
The other placers were Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila in second and UP Manila in third for their campaign "Champinoy".
